This privacy policy describes how we collect and use information about visitors to our websites.

The Norwegian Agency for Public and Financial Management (DFØ) and its director general are responsible for processing personal data within the organisation. It is optional for website visitors to disclose personal data in order to receive services such as newsletters or register for training. This privacy policy complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which came into force in July 2018.

The purpose of processing personal data is to be able to offer personalised content, training and seminars to ensure professional development amongst civil servants.

The basis for collecting and processing personal data can be found in Article 6 no. 1 letter f): legitimate interests pursued by the controller or by a third party. We consider it to be of particular interest to members of the civil service to be offered professional development across government agencies.

The personal data we collect is your name, email address, telephone number and place of work. We do not collect particular categories of personal data such as sensitive personal data.

Registrants are free to opt out if they no longer wish to receive offers from DFØ.

Registrants have the right to access the data held on them, to have their data rectified or erased, and to complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority if they feel that their personal data is not being used for the purposes for which it was collected, for instance.

Website statistics

One important part of creating user-friendly websites is to examine the user patterns of our visitors. To analyse the information, we use the analytics tool Matomo for and and Google Analytics for,, and

The collected information is stored locally on our own servers. Only reports containing de-identified data may be shared with our partners.

Examples of what the statistics can tell us include

  • how many visitors to the various pages
  • how users navigate on and between the different pages
  • how long their visit lasts
  • which website the user comes from
  • which browser they use


Cookies are small text files which are placed on your computer when you load a web page.

Email subscriptions

Visitors are able to subscribe to a variety of information from us. If you wish to subscribe, you must provide your email address so that we can send you the information you want.

We also store information about how you use your subscription to determine which emails reach their intended recipients, how many of them are read, and which links are being clicked on so that we can continue to improve the content of the emails we send.

We do not share this information with others.

Professional networks

When you join a professional network you are in effect signing up for an email subscription (see above), but in the case of networks we will ask you to state your first name, surname, place of work and whether you hold a management position when you register. This information is then stored.

Registering for courses and events

The purpose of registering is to provide us with the necessary information to ensure correct registration and administration of participants in our events (courses, seminars, webinars etc.) to improve the content and quality of the events and to accommodate participants with particular needs (e.g. food allergies).

We register the following information:

  • name (first name, surname)
  • mobile number
  • email address

We may also register the following where necessary:

  • organisation
  • role/position
  • any information about food allergies and disabilities
  • attendance/participation
  • participant evaluations of the events

The basis for the processing can be found in GDPR Article 6 (1) b): processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is party or in order to take steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contract.

The legal basis for processing information about food allergies and disabilities is described in GDPR Article 9 (2) a): the data subject has given explicit consent to the processing of those personal data.

Your personal data will not be shared with other organisations. Name and organisation may be included in lists of participants distributed to participants and instructors. Personal data is stored until billing, the necessary statistics and reporting have been completed.

Recordings of DFØ's online seminars may be published on our YouTube channel, linked to on our websites, or used for training purposes. Participants who ask questions in chat or give presentations with audio or video will also be visible in the recordings.

The registration solution is supplied by Deltager AS. We use email to distribute evaluations after a course or seminar via our supplier Questback.
